april baby?
i was born in June.
June 5th, to be exact. my birthstone's pearl, but i like it for other reasons.
. ~ . technically i have 2 birthstones,
since they decided June also needed a crystal-esc stone too,
so it's Pearl and Alexandrite.

Alexandrite.. If only that was August. It sounds nice.

I only said August because my.. youngest, 11 year old sister is called Alexandra and she was born in August. I dont know much about her though. :/

I know this might be a little off topic but I thought I would ask.

Why do they even have the birthstone thing anyway? Not that it's not fun and somewhat interesting, I'm just curious about who/ what started to tradition and why?

Anybody got any ideas?


ps. I agree with La-san, screw diamonds. I would rather have something other than a diamond for my wedding ring too.

It originated from the bible and someone's twelve something or others (sorry, I know next to nothing about the bible), then they became associated with the zodiac, then as they became more popular, they came to represent the months.

Random trivia locked in my brain. lol.

My birthstone is sapphire. ^_^ But my favorite birthstone is May. Emerald is just... Gah. Beautiful. X)

Personally, I hope my engagement/wedding ring will be my great grandmothers, which has been passed down to every woman on our side of the family. It's from 1901. ^_^

Ah, yes, hand me down rings are beautiful. And it would be so cute too.

I don't think my family has jewelry to pass down. Only an old Spanish bible from Spain and talents of tradition. We still most of our crafts by hand and make most of our Spanish dinner from scratch. I know about gems and their colors along with spiritual ties but that is it.

Very true. I usually meet people with one Item and some family lore that has been passed down for generations. I have mostly lore, spiritual ties, and talents. I might have others but I am not sure about all of them just yet. I have created my own traditions with very close friends.

We have the ring from Italy (yeah, 1901 like the song!!) >_< and the cooking ability. Italian family, great food. XD

no, actually it's the most popular name for girls 10 years old and younger.
every other freakin' five year old is named Emma now.

my father just really liked the name Emma for some reason.
my mom was going to name me Elizabeth, but it was a bit popular,
