testing times [closed]

Waking up this morning, he had actually gotten worried. He didnt even know what the hell he was getting himself into. Showering and then shoving an apple in his mouth before locking the door behnd him, Reiji headed off to the hospital.

Weaving through the traffic, he sighed in his helmet. He was glad that he had left early. Arriving at the hospital at 9:30am was a sure fire way he wouldnt get punished by Yaso. Even though, he knew the most the sacrifice would to would to physically hurt him or the silent treatment. Those he could handle.

Parking his bike he walked up to the entrance. 'Yaso wouldnt be here yet. Would he?' Reiji thought to himself. Then just to make sure he looked around squinting into the car park to look for Yaso's car or any sign of the sacrifice himself, before heading inside.

Yaso had woken at six that morning, and arrived at the hospital at nine to wait for visiting hours. He'd already drilled the doctors about treatments, medicines... Anything and everything he could think of.

But of course, yet again the answers were 'Not at this time', 'No, sir. There's nothing new since two days ago.' And the ever popular, 'Sir, if you don't get out of my office I will call security and have you escorted out of the hospital.'

They were so nice. Really, they were.

He flopped back in a chair in the waiting room, peeking at his watch with a scowl on his face. 9:30. Thirty minutes until Reiji needed to be here.

Walking into the entrance way, he saw Yaso sitting there. 'Shit, it wasn't 9 that i was meant to be here?' he thought. But then remembered that it was specifically 10am. Breathing a little he walked up to the sacrifice.
"How long have you been here for?" He asked not sitting down.

Then spotting a drink machine turned and asked "Want some thing to drink?" He could see one drink that he was particually parcial to. So grabbing his wallet out of his pocket he held it there and waited for Yaso to answer.

He grunted a bit, "No." He glowered over at the nurse's station when one of the doctors scurried by it to grab up a folder. He'd like to stuff that folder up his ass.

He folded his arms over his chest and set him jaw. "With all the technology out there they can't even come up with new medical treatments in 48 hours. Assholes."

He wasn't bitter, oh no. He was just pissed every time he saw someone in a white coat with a stethoscope.

Shrugging at Yaso's aswer he walked over to the drink machine. He could still hear Yaso going on about technology and other things. This made him think.
'Must be here to see Yuudai or some one else, who has something really bad.'

The machine made a sound as Reiji feed it change and chose a lychee flavoured drink. When it dropped down to the hole, he grabbed it. Opening it with a satisflying sound he held it up to his lips and took a sip. "Aaah"

Walking back over to Yaso he stood next to him, looking down "Would you be able to fill me in at all? I dont want to do anything that may offend who ever you are here to see." He asked quietly.

He shot him a quick glance before looking at the floor again. "...just don't act like he's stupid." he muttered.

He held his hand out for the drink.

Yuudai... He'd never really asked anyone to meet Yuudai before. He's always managed to keep his brother to himself, like his own little secret. Not even his parents visited Yuudai. Those bastards. He sighed a bit again. Just twenty more minutes....

He'd be lying if he didn't say he was anxious, either.

Nodding, he understood. His younger brother had learning difficulties. He hated it when people had treated him different or stupid. Thats why he had started to learn the piano. Turned out he had become really good. Reiji hadnt seen his brother since he got a scholarship at some private school.

When Yaso held his hand out for the drink, he smirked to himself but handed his drink over anyway.

Hearing Yaso sigh, Reiji looked down "Whats up? It will be fine." He said.

Yaso scoffed, "Yeah. Right. It'll never be 'fine'." He sipped at the drink before handing it back. "Trust me. Things are never alright, and things will never be fine. Learned that the hard way."

He leaned back, watching the minutes tick by, the second hand clearing his mind only to weigh his shoulders down again with worry and anxiety. He always worried about Yuudai. Every second of everyday, he worried about his twin. That was why he'd chosen his profession. So he could at least provide his brother with the best doctors and facilities possible.

Next best thing to becoming a pop-star apparently.

He chewed his lip, standing up the second the clock struck 10. "Let's go."

"What ever happened, may have made things different but it doesnt mean that they're not fine. Some times it just means a new way of doing some thing or looking at some thing from a new point of view. Change happens whether people like it or not. Its how we adjust to that change, to make it fine or not." Reiji said as he watched Yaso looking at the clock on the wall.

It was almost 10. Recieving the drink back he took another sip, savouring the flavour.

Hearing the sacrifice it was time, Reiji chucked the now empty can in a bin he had seen, and followed behind Yaso. Down the hallway they went.

Yaso opened the door to one of the last rooms, and stepped inside. Laying on the bed amongst tubes and wires was his twin.

He moved over to the bed, tugging a chair along with him so he could sit. "This is Yuudai." He reached out and moved a bit of his brother's waxy hair. "Yuudai," he murmured, face relaxed for once. "This is Reiji."

His only answer, as always, were a series of steady beeps, and the hiss of the oxygen.

Reiji stood there in the doorway in a state of shock. When Yaso said 'just dont act like he's stupid' Reiji had of course assumed that Yuudai was awake and talking, not in this comatose state.

Coming back to reality, he shook his head slightly. He walked into the room, and stopped behind Yaso who was in a chair. "Hi Yuudai." Reiji said softly. Raising his hand slighly in a small wave. This hand then came to rest on Yaso's shoulder.

It was a subdued moment for Reiji. He felt very humbled.

"He's been like this since we were 16." he explained, looking at the heart monitor.

He hated seeing his brother like this. It just wasn't fair. He'd been with his when the bus had hit him... He'd been two steps behind him! He clenched his fist.

"And don't pity him." he snapped quietly. He didn't want to raise his voice near Yuudai. "He'll wake up soon." The chances were slim to none, but he had to at least believe a treatment would appear, that he'd wake up on his own...

"How did he come to be here?" Reiji asked, not sure if he would get an answer.

It must have been some thing bad if he has been here since he was 16. Reiji thought as he stood behind his sacrifice in silence.

He didnt want to talk or ask too many questions because he didnt want Yaso to flip out. He knew that it was a big enough step for him to let Reiji be there, after he was so secretive about it when they had first met.

So he stood there, with his hand on the sacrifices shoulder, trying to be there for him.

"We were going home from school. We crossed the street and a bus decided not to stop." he replied.

He shrugged his hand off after a minute. He didn't want to be touched right now, but he couldn't be pissy while with Yuudai. His brother didn't deserve this...

"And of course doctors are too stupid to figure out treatments to wake him up."

Damn that must have been hard. Watching it as it happened. Reiji thought as he felt Yaso shrug his hand off.
Coming to rest by his side, Reiji looked down at his hand and then at Yaso. This had been the first time they had touched, well the first time that Reiji could remember since first meeting the sacrifice.

Reiji listened as Yaso told him bout the doctors and how useless he thought they were.
What could Reiji say to that? Wasn't there very little doctors could do for coma patients? Not knowing what to reply with Reiji just stood there looking from Yuudai to Yaso.

He made a noise. Really? Reiji was staying?

He shrugged it off and settled in for a long visit. He normally stayed with Yuudai until visiting hours ended around 4, and usually during that time he'd talk to his brother.

Key word; usually.

Right now though, Reiji was around and he didn't feel like looking like some sort of lunatic. "Tell me everything you know about being a unit." Well, what else was there to talk about? The weather? What they liked and disliked? They were a unit, not best buddies.

Hearing the noise coming from Yaso, he frowned. He looked down, and saw that Yaso looked slightly surprised. But it faded quickly. What was he thinking Reiji wondered.

Yaso then spoke, bringing Reiji out of his revere. He seemed to be doing alot of this lately. All i know, all i know He thought scanning him mind for any sort of usful bit of information that would help Yaso.
Thinking back to the time at Seven Moons.
"Well only that of the most common things like the sacrifice takes the damage from the opposing fighters word spells in battle, that my spells can be used not only in battle to harm and kill but to do other things outside of battle. That if i was found by myself and had to fight my powers would be half and i would take the damage that youo usually would. I dunno, i dont know what you do and don't know already. I don't wanna be repeting myself."

He made a noise again, "Would I be asking if I knew anything?" He hated not knowing about something, and normally he'd be up in arms about it, but the steady beeping of his brother's monitors calmed him somewhat and he kept his voice lowered.

"Look." he sighed. "All I know is that I have a fighter, and that is all. I can't tell if someone else is a unit, I can't tell who is who, I'm pretty much naked in the knowledge department right about now and it's pissing me off to be perfectly honest." He glanced at his fighter, irritation flashing across his face for a brief second.

Ignoring the first statement, Reiji shrugged and said "Well thats pretty much what sacrifices do. They have a fighter to look after them and they take the pain in battle. Other than that they don't really so anything, thats why that little punk said that sacrifces are pretty much dogs and that the fighter should be incharge. But i dont agree with any of his bullshit"

Looking over to Yuudai then back to Yaso, he went on. "All i know about the whole thing is what i am supposed to do. Learn to take pain, orders and how to manipulate words to defeat the another fighter in battle."

Taking a deep breath he looked down, avoiding Yaso's glare. "I know that i have to obey my sacrifices every command right down to the last moment. But i do know one other thing, its about the 'chain' or 'wire'." He said wrapping the small glowing wirey chain that revolved around the two of them.
"To become stronger as a unit, the 'chain' itself has to be strong. It's kinda like an indication of how strong we are as a unit. To do this we have to connect and trust each other, or some crap like that." He said turning away.

Letting out a sigh to match Yaso's he didn't want to get the ear chewing that he thought might be coming from the sacrifice's mouth about trusting and connecting with each other. He could tell that he was frustrated enough already. Remembering another thing he walked over to a small painting and said "We can, i dunno how you would say it, umm talk to each other and feel each other when in need and such through the link, which is another reason why, apperently, it should be stronger. Cause then any message will be clearer. Like the other night when i said i could sense you might be in danger with that little punk." All said with his back to the sacrifice.

"hn." he grunted. Half of what he said he simply ignored, more intent with preening his twin. "So you're weak."

He shrugged a bit and stood. "I'm going to the cafeteria, are you coming or staying with him?" he asked. He brushed his pants off a bit. He still wasn't... He still wasn't all that sure about Reiji and his connection. Their connection had to be stronger.

Alright.

So they had to get to be buddy buddy or something? Did they have to fucking live together?? Or just...exchange information? Meet each other's families?

Well...they might have a problem there...

Rolling his eyes at the first comment, he didnt say anything. He wasn't weak. Just wasn't as strong as some other fighters. And they needed to work as a unit. Not two people who just shared the same name.

Reiji turned back around and shook his head "I'll stay here. I mean if thats ok?" He wasn't hungry at the moment. Plus he himself was still coming to terms of what he had just said. It had made him think, which he hadn't had much time over the last couple of days.

Sitting down in the chair that Yaso had vacated. He turned and waited for Yaso to leave for the cafeteria.

He made a face, eying Reiji for a long moment. Did he trust him to stay alone with his brother? His jaw tightened a bit and he stood there, pondering.

His gaze moved to Yuudai and his brow furrowed a bit more. He would be alright... Nurses and Doctors were right outside the room if his fighter tried something.

Wait.

His fighter? Since when?

He made a noise and shrugged, jamming his hands into his pockets. "So be it. I'll be back shortly. Don't...touch him." It sounded stupid, but it was all he could really think of. With that, he turned on his heel and moved down the hall.

Watching Yaso as he looked from himself to Yuudai, Reiji rolled his eyes. What did Yaso think he was going to do? Kill Yuudai in his sleep? He wasn't going to do any thing.

Obviously Yaso didn't trust him. That would be something the two of them needed to work on if they were going to become a proper unit.

Turning his head to catch the back of the sacrifice leaving the room, Reiji slumped back into the chair and sighed. Closing his eyes, he sat there listening to the methodical beep of the machines that the comatose boy was hooked up to. Once you got past how irritating the beep was, it almost became relaxing.

Opening his eyes, he rolled his head along the back of the chair and looked at Yuudai. "At least he trusts you." He murmered to him. Upon looking at the man, Reiji noticed how much he looked like his sacrifice. Only paler, and not as angry. How much alike were they? Reiji pondered. Rolling his head to the other side to look away from the bed he closed his eyes again, listening to the constant beeping that came from the bed.

Yaso grumbled to himself a few minutes later when he returned, empty handed. They didn't have anything he wanted and to top it off why should he eat when his brother couldn't?

"Hey." he snapped, kicking the chair. "If you're going to fall asleep leave."

He turned a bit to sit on the edge of the bed, fixing the wires so that they didn't touch Yuudai's skin more than needed. He felt a bit clamy to the touch...maybe the heat was on too high? He'd make them turn it down when he left.

He glanced at Reiji out of the corner of his eye, "Well?"

Opening his eyes, Reiji rolled his head along the back of the chair. "Im not asleep, I was just waiting for you to come back." He replied quietly. With his head in the corner of the chair his eyes followed the sacrifice as he sat down on the corner of the bed. "Well what? If you want me to leave...... Then i will. All you need to do is give the order."

He watched as Yaso played with the wires that were attatched to Yuudai. Reiji thought of something. Sitting up straight in the chair, he looked straight at Yaso. "If i can control people and their actions, do you think i could make your twin better? Or at least get him to come out of his coma?" Reiji paused, uncertain. "I mean, you did say the doctors weren't doing anything to help."
