True name: Senseless

Occupation: Part time at a nearby convenient store.
Appearance: Rai stands at five feet, eleven inches with dark brown hair and gray eyes. The teen is self described ‘average’ in looks and body type, though Rai will admit to having a slightly more oval face and squinty eyes. His skin tone comes in two colors: white and burnt. Since he prefers the former Rai typically stays out of the sun, even though he loves sunny weather.
Out of habit he’ll normal wear his hair in his face - accompanied with a hat if it is cold enough - and glasses. The only exception to this look is when he is fighting. Once engaged, he’ll shed all unnecessary items. Even in cold weather, the fighter has been known to battle in just a shirt and pants.
As far a style goes, Rai isn’t very particular. Most of his clothing was preowned by Seven Moons alumni. As long as it is wearable and comfortable, it’s good. He, however, is partial to shirts with English gibberish and hats of all kinds. His favorite hat is a black, slightly worn ushanka.
Rai is still a neko, with dark brown ears and a short tail. They are both marked with a forking black stripe.

Personality: Rai is a mellow person, pretty nice, if not a little awkward. At times he can be cold and defensive, though he doesn’t mean to. His spectrum of emotions is small, making him hard to anger and generally unresponsive. He is flighty around people who are concerned with his well being and interested in people who aren’t.
Rai will tend to act more confident in formal situations (Fighting included). He’ll exaggerate his emotions in order to seem less comatose and as a result is emotionally exhausted afterwards. Rai acts differently to people he meets formally because they have seen an embellished side of him. Since it is hard for him to mimic his 'formal attitude' in a normal situation he'll just come off as more awkward then usual.
If ever uncomfortable, he’s prone to run; when chased, he’s just run faster.

As a generalization, Rai is at the very least indifferent to most everything. Even with things he knows he doesn’t like, he is willing to try them multiple times.
Though Rai likes spell battles, he isn’t into violence at all. When confronted with it, it's unlike him to take action; even if that means he'll get beat up. The teen physical strength is nothing special, so it is hard for him to fight back anyways. Often if a conflict is inevitable Rai will automatically expand his system or – if the option is available – run.

Background: Rai had a pretty normal life growing up. His family had the typical mother/father/daughter/son set up, Raighne being the youngest. His family moved from Ireland to Japan - before their son was born - because of a job transfer. The new position offered a high pay, so the Nevin family was able to live comfortably. Of course, they weren’t without any troubles. Rai’s sister always acted a little strange, but when she hit twelve her personally disorders became more then apparent. His parents tried their best to manage their daughter, while still paying attention to their son. And, in his parents best judgment, they decided to keep him uninformed on his sister's status.

Of course, living in the household was enough to make anyone aware of what was going on. Screaming matches, tantrums and the passive aggressive behaviors were all common, if not everyday. So, where his mother and father couldn't hide what was going on, Rai took over. Subconsciously his memories became repressed, to the point that the boy was almost unconnected in what was going on in his own home.

In his sister’s sixteenth year, when Rai was twelve, something took place. It was the sort of incident that the preteen could not even fathom, let alone describe. It happened though and, while his parents were dealing with the aftermath, their son up and left.

The boy ended up at Seven Moons, slightly damp. He had been wondering around in the surrounding area and was picked up by security. When the school found he was not a threat they allowed him to stay. Since he had some potential, and no intention of going home, he was trained - first as a sacrifice, but soon after as a fighter. He was offical accepted into the academy - despite the fact he wasn't an extraordinary unit - when one of the other fighters had a little ‘accident.’ His parents were informed of the 'Boarding school' and thought it would be nice to have their son escape from the chaos of his home life.

Rai's years at Seven Moons were interesting, to say the least. The teens time was dominated by training due of his own accord. Known as a blank to the Seven Moons staff and he was unsuccessfully paired a few times over his stay. He never came out as suspecting his true name, due to his own inhibitions.

Other:
- Rai switched from glasses to contacts when he joined the academy. He feels really uncomfortable without eyewear though, so he got zero prescription pair to wear when he wasn’t fighting.
- When his teacher found out his nickname was ‘Rai’ he started to call him ‘Enrai’, meaning foreign visitor. The name stuck.
- ‘Senseless’ appeared under his jaw half a year after Rai graduated from Seven Moons.
