Appearance: Katsumi stands very tall at 5’11, and is slender for that height—not through any weight loss, she is just naturally thin. She has straight black hair that comes to the middle of her back and gray eyes. She does not have her ears; she lost them one night when she got drunk at a party. It is something she still regrets, especially since she smelled like salmon for a week afterward. When she is being sociable, she has a bright smile and laughs easily, but she will just as quickly turn serious and look down at the floor if she is uncomfortable. She will typically wear jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, the latter to cover up her name.
Personality: People have often said that she is like a ghost: when you start to see her, she vanishes. Because of this, she sometimes adopts the nickname "Phantom" when she wants to keep her identity a secret. She is slow to trust people, but she is also afraid to try. She has never held a relationship--romantic or otherwise--for very long because she is scared to let people in. Maybe this is a result of her parents' deaths, maybe she has always been this way; it's hard to know because she has been this way for so long. The only person she has ever been friends with for more than a month was Naythen, her best friend in childhood. After his death, however, she drew completely inward, only seeing people for what information they can provide about his death.

Background: Katsumi was a fun, sweet girl growing up, raised by loving parents in a middle-class home. Her best friend was a boy named Naythen, whom she had known since they were little kids. When she was eleven, her parents were killed in a car crash and her world fell apart. She lived with other relatives for a while, but she was too wrapped up in her own sorrow to really care. Naythen was the only one who was there for her during that incredibly difficult period in her life, and even to this day, she believes that he may have saved her life.
Four years later, when she was fifteen, Naythen left for some kind of special academy. He never told her what it was or why he was going there, only that it was called Seven Moons. He regularly sent her letters, telling her about some of his classes, but mostly about the antics he and his roommate (“partner,” Naythen called him) constantly got into. The letters were amusing, but three months later, he stopped writing, and not long after that, she received word that he had been killed in some kind of accident (the details were not provided).
Two years later, the name Boundless appeared on her lower left arm, and she too was recruited to the Seven Moons Academy to be trained as a Sacrifice. Katsumi asked around, and eventually found out that Naythen—who was also a Sacrifice—and his Fighter unit had been sent by Ritsu to some kind of special school—one which turned out a very high mortality rate. She did some investigating and discovered the location of the school; she had heard that Naythen’s Fighter was still alive, and she wanted answers. When she got there and started asking around, however, the Fighter was nowhere to be found, and according to other students, he had left the school shortly after Naythen’s death.
She has graduated from Seven Moons, but for the past year, she has been on the lookout for Naythen’s Fighter, searching desperately for answers and with only a club name to guide her: Club Midnight Bliss.
Other: It somehow happened that while she was at Seven Moons, she never ran into or spoke to Ritsu, mostly because something about him scared the crap out of her. Even so, she hates him on principle because he was the one who sent Naythen to the torture school. She trained with a Blank Fighter unit at the Academy, but the Fighter took off after Katsumi left the school (good riddance, in Katsumi’s opinion).
